Conference Gone With Coal in Warsaw
The Polish Green Network and Lusatian Perspectives invite to the international conference “Gone with coal. Mining regions in search of new energy ”. The event will take place on October 19 this year. in hours 9.30-16.30 at the Newseria Press Center at ul. Chmielna 73 in Warsaw.
The first discussion panel on the climate neutrality of coal regions will be attended by, among others, Frans Timmermans, Vice-President of the European Commission, Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and Joanna Maćkowiak-Pandera, President of Forum Energii.
Félix Mailleux, Climate, Energy and Industrial Policy Advisor in the European Trade Union Confederation, Dagmar Schmidt, President of Lusatian Perspectives and a representative of the mining trade union will take part in the discussions on social involvement in the transformation process.
The discussion on the experiences of Poland and Germany in the time of the energy crisis will be attended by e.g. Sven Tischer, Deputy Prime Minister of Brandenburg for Lusatia, Mariusz Musiałowski, Mayor of Kleczew and Magdalena Bartecka, Manager of Just Transition in the Polish Green Network.
During the conference there will be held the premiere of the report by prof. Przemysław Sadura on the process of involving various groups of residents in a just transition in coal regions. Prof. Sadura conducted dozens of interviews with participants in the transformation process in Eastern Wielkopolska – trade unions, local government officials, representatives of employers and non-governmental organizations. This report is the essence of the conclusions drawn from the work of the local community over the last two years of preparation for the transformation of the local economy in the spirit of just transformation.
